The Early Care and Education Program is comprised of two initiatives: the First Thousand Days (FTD), and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) phase. Both the FTD, 0-3 years, and ECD, 3-6 years, are focussed on providing education, nutrition, and support to learners. The program also provides training sessions to practitioners who are equipped to teach the necessary and appropriate skills to learners, enabling them to achieve their particular milestones and reach their developmental goals. These training sessions share valuable tools in the art of illustrated storytelling, using resources and apparatus, music, one-on-one sessions, structural playtime, and assessments. These techniques assist significantly with literacy, early vocabulary building skills and overall enrichment of the learner.
During the earlier part of the year, practitioners engaged in a wellness session where the focus was on self-love and essential self-care skills. Enriching and empowering practitioners in turn benefits the learners who are in the care of committed and dedicated role-models.
